Excited to share our latest paper in @JOMSinformatics! We evaluated opioid dashboards across all 50 states; major differences with implications for assessing population-level opioid risk. Congrats to Chance Aguiar and Maria Bolus! https://rdcu.be/fkjK4

Grateful to present at the @StanfordDBDS Workshop in Biomedical Data Science on interpretable AI for perioperative opioid risk. Simpler models identify actionable predictors; deep learning generalizes across institutions. Can we build both? #InterpretableAI @EMARIANOMD
Thanks Ed! Great conversation with @alopipatelmd. Team effort with @TobiHunterDNP! Some takeaways: structured follow-up works with only 3% dose escalation, 68% reduction among preop opioid users. Pain catastrophizing is a key predictor.#PPOU @stanfordanes
Great @RAPMOnline podcast on transitional pain services with @SMudumbaiDoc and @TobiHunterDNP and hosted by @alopipatelmd 👏🏽

Grateful to be part of this collaboration with such an awesome team. Thanks to @EMARIANOMD for leading this and to @AJMilamMDPhD for the guidance.
Excited to see this out. Hope it is useful for those working to advance health equity in perioperative care.
@UcheUmehMD @IARS_Journals @JbLiuJb @SMudumbaiDoc @stanfordanes @HSSAnesthesia @iars360 Fantastic collaboration! Many thanks to Section Editor @AJMilamMDPhD 🙏🏽
Join me at the 2026 Annual Meeting, presented by IARS and SOCCA, May 1-3, 2026, in Montreal, where I’ll be moderating “Stopping Pain Before It Starts: Translating Pain Science into Transitional Pain Services”

Honored to be part of this team with Juliet Rowe, Dr. U. Umeh,@EMARIANOMD , and Dr. J Liu. New paper in Anesthesia & Analgesia on study design and statistical methods for health equity research in perioperative care:https://journals.lww.com/anesthesia-analgesia/abstract/9900/study_design_and_statistical_methods_for_health.1729.aspx
Exactly the issues in applying AI to perioperative opioid risk. We’re getting better at predicting outcomes, but within data structures built on legacy definitions of pain, exposure, and recovery.Real opportunities are in redefining problem space, not just better models.

I think this is one of the most important articles we've published at @AsimovPress. If you read carefully, there are at least 3-4 ideas in here that *should* be large, well-funded research programs.
The article begins by arguing that existing AI models are good at predicting
